MAXIMUM TOWBALL WEIGHT

Does not matter what brand of trailer, you should always know the downball weight it applies.
This can simply be calculated by using "bathroom scales" and a box or prop to level the trailer.
With box or prop on top of the scales, place the coupler on top (making sure trailer is level).
This will give you your downball weight. Simple.
Notes:
Any Trailer Exceeding 750 kg Requires Brakes.
Also see your Vehicles Max. Unbraked Towing Capacity.
Always Check a Trailer's Towball Weight before use on any Vehicle.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW & UNDERSTAND TOWBALL WEIGHT?

Towball Weight... Downball Weight... Tongue Weight... this has many names.
Basically it is the weight applied directly downwards on your towball.
Exceeding the Maximum Towball / Plated Weight will dramatically affect the performance of your Vehicle and Trailer.
When you exceed your vehicle's max. towball weight your suspension and / or structure of towbar connection points to the vehicle are dangerously compromised.
Your vehicle is now operating outside the manufacturer's limits, therefore is unsafe, uninsured, and you are fully responsible for any unforeseen events. This is especially true at highway speeds.

HOW MUCH CAN I TOW?

Never Exceed your Vehicle's Maximum Towball Weight!
It's Dangerous and Illegal to use any Trailer that exceeds your Vehicles Limits.

1. Max. Towball Weight
(This can be found on your Towbar Plate, Not Towball)
2. the Easytrailer calculation is by 10, this varies on brand.
then Multiply Towball Weight by 10
3. this will equal Total Maximum Towing Weight
of your Vehicle.
4. so, your Max Payload allowed on your Trailer is
MAX TOWING WEIGHT minus UNLADEN Trailer Weight.

EXAMPLE:
Hatchback CAR - Max. Towball Weight = 55 kg
Maximum Towing Weight of above Car = 550 kg
6X4 Easytrailer Tare Weight (Flat Top) = 135 kg
Maximum Payload allowed on Trailer = 415 kg

55kg x 10 = 550kg - 135kg = 415kg Payload Max.

Bolted Frame.

Welding is permanent.
Bolting is not permanent, parts can be readily disassembled if any one of them is damaged.
Allows you to add / remove accessories to change the trailer's purpose.

C Section Steel Frame.

Engineered C Section Steel Chassis are common with Modern Truck Chassis. The design provides excellent tension, torsion, and shear load properties.

The Carlex Easy Trailer Chassis design uses manufactured A Grade Steel, A Steel free of impurities and recycled metals. Designed with extremely high payload to weight ratio, each beam section can carry over 2000 Lbs (950kg). This means we use less cross members, less weight to carry bigger payloads.

Full Tapered Bearings

Our Bearings are specifically selected for High Speed, High Payload, Long Distance, Long Lifespan with minimal maintenance.
They are Fully Tapered, High Quality Rollers, 2" in Diameter. Fitted to both sides of a Cast Iron Hub.
1600kg Rated Each Hub.
Our Bearing is designed to run at low temperatures at high speed providing a bearing lifespan of over 80,000kms with minimal care

R12 Light Truck Wheels.

Our wheels give a lower centre of gravity for the payload, this provides high speed stability - no swaying, and a Lower Loading Height
A Narrow High Speed, High Pressure Light Truck Tyre, common to all truck trailers and selected for the following reasons:
- Minimal road tyre drag
- Minimal petrol consumption
- High speed stability against snaking/swaying
- Excellent lifespan averaging over 60,000kms.

50mm Coupler

Easy to use self locking Ball Coupling. Optional Key Lock accessory is available. A High Strength Forged Coupling made to ECE/Australian Standard. Superior and easier to use over cast iron couplings.

Carlex Easytrailer operates between 10kg to 75kg depending on your payload. Check your Vehicles Max. Towball Weight.
Calculate 10% of the Total Trailer Weight, this is your Towball Weight.

What's the Australian Laws for Un-braked Trailers?

750kg Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) is the Maximum Capacity for un-Braked Trailers.
This includes the weight of the trailer including your load and load on your towball.
Note that some cars will have a lesser Gross Towing Un-Braked Capacity, consult car owners manual.
